What is LipoDissolve?

LipoDissolve is a non surgical, no-downtime procedure designed to effectively remove fat from different areas of the body. It was developed by a European network of physicians in 2001 and introduced to the United States in 2004 by the American Society of Aesthetic LipoDissolve [ASAL]. It utilizes a formulation of natural substances including phoshatidyl choline [PC], an essential molecule in our cell membranes, and deoxycholate [DC], a bile acid, to destroy fat and to improve the metabolism of fat.  PC has been used as a dietary supplement for many years. It improves liver function, brain function and may improve cholesterol abnormalities. Intra-venous PC has been used in Europe to cure fat embolism [a dangerous condition caused by globs of fat leaking into the blood stream from trauma to bone], and to remove cholesterol plaques from the arteries. LipoDissolve is the latest use of this natural, essential-for-life substance.

What is the difference between LipoDissolve and Mesotherapy?

LipoDissolve supercedes Mesotherapy with its:

A) greatly improved, more specific formulation of the substances injected
B) enhanced technique
C) better results with fewer treatments

LipoDissolve has been proven to be more than twice as effective as Mesotherapy, removing as much fat in 2-4 treatments as was achieved with 6-10 treatments of Mesotherapy. True LipoDissolve is being performed in the U.S. only by physicians trained and certified by the American Society of Aesthetic LipoDissolve [ASAL]. Dr. Mahmud is the only physician in Minnesota trained by ASAL, and is one of the most experienced in this technique. It is important to verify the credentials of the physician before undergoing treatment to ensure that you are receiving the real LipoDissolve.

Is the procedure safe?

The European network has performed more than 80,000 procedures without any major side effects or death. Dr. Mahmud and his highly trained staff have performed 500+ procedures without significant side effects.  The most common temporary reactions consist of: swelling, bruising, soreness, and some cramping or burning pain.  A few patients complained of lightheadedness, but admit it was likely the result of a fear of needles. The main substances injected are present in the body already and are essential for our health, thus we, and the ASAL do not anticipate any long-term side effects. In fact, evidence suggests that the procedure will improve insulin sensitivity [like liposuction] and actually benefit health. However, as with any new cosmetic procedure, we cannot be ascertain that no long-term side effect will emerge.

Is LipoDissolve the right treatment for me?

LipoDissolve is effective for removing areas of stubborn fat on the outside of our bodies. It is not a weight-loss treatment, nor a treatment for obesity. It is not suitable for patients with liver dysfunction, kidney disease, immune problems, uncontrolled diabetes, and certain other active disorders.

How many treatments will I need?

Every patient has a different anatomy and a different concept of ideal body shape. Each patient responds differently. We have observed between ¾ to 3 inch circumference reduction in one treatment, depending on the area treated. On average, our patients achieve desired results in only 2 treatments and are extremely satisfied. It may take until the 3rd or 4th treatment for some. We will customize a program for you at the time of your free consultation

Is there any down time?

No.  This is a non-surgical procedure.  Ninety-five percent of our patients return to work the next day.  Side effects [pain, swelling, bruising, etc.] require ice packs on the day of the treatment, but begin to subside after one day. Patients can perform their normal daily activities, although at a slightly lower pace for a couple of days.

How is the fat broken down?  What happens to it?

When injected, phosphatidyl choline (PC) activates our lipolytic (fat-breaking) enzymes stimulating the body to break down fat.  Deoxycholate [DC], an acid naturally present in our digestive systems, helps to break down and emulsify the fat, after which it is carried to the liver and metabolized.  PC also improves insulin sensitivity, which results in decreased fat accumulation in our cells.

Is LipoDissolve effective for Skin Tightening?

Yes, however the technique is different for Skin Tightening than LipoDissolve for fat reduction. We have seen significant tightening of lax skin on the neck. Not only that, the skin looks healthier and much improved after just one treatment.

Why is our LipoDissolve the best in Minnesota?

Dr. Mahmud is a National LipoDissolve instructor, teaching other physicians how to obtain the best results. He combines knowledge from his previous career as an Internal Medicine practicioner, Oncologist, and Hematologist, along with his current profession as an Anti-Aging physician to evaluate each patient and create the most effective LipoDissolve program. By custom tailoring each patient's experience, Dr. Mahmud acheives superior results.

LipoDissolve is an advanced procedure that is relatively new to the US. The procedure is often confused and interchanged with Mesotherapy. Although some of the ingredients are similar, the LipoDissolve technique and formula differs providing patients with superior and faster results. LipoDissolve is only performed by physicians trained by the American Society of Aesthetic LipoDissolve (ASAL). If the physician does not have these credentials, it is likely you will not receive the true LipoDissolve formula nor achieve the results you had expected.
