What is the FotoFacial RF® treatment?

FotoFacial RF treatments are face, neck, hands, or body treatments using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), Infrared (IR), Laser, and/or Radiofrequency (RF) energy combined in the same pulse. These gentle, no-downtime treatments are used to achieve smoother, clearer, more youthful looking skin.

How does the FotoFacial RF® differ from other photo-rejuvenation procedures?

By combining RadioFrequency and Intense Pulsed Light into one treatment, the optimal degree of enhancement to all components of your skin is achieved; significant improvement in redness, rosacea, pinkness, spider veins, sun damage, hyper-pigmentation, pores, texture, and wrinkles.

How are the treatments performed?

The treatments are simple and done right in the office. A thin layer of gel is applied to the entire face, chest, hands, or arms and the area is treated with a gentle pulse of light and Radiofrequency energy. Each treatment takes about 30 minutes. To achieve the desired results, most patients require 3 to 5 treatments spread about 3 weeks apart. In certain skin types, a microdermabrasion or glycolic peel is performed between FotoFacial treatments to enhance the penetration of the light and Radiofrequency energy.

How does the FotoFacial RF® work to improve the appearance of the skin?

Each pulse sends multiple types of energy into your skin, Intense Pulsed Visible Light, IR, Laser and/or RadioFrequency (RF) energy. The energy acts synergistically to enhance the skin. Energy is given up to brown spots, blood vessels, and redness to gradually lessen or eliminate these blemishes. The RadioFrequency also produce significant amounts of collagen, elastin, and ground substances (the thick undercarpet of the skin) resulting in a noticeable and significant smoothening of fine to moderate wrinkles and textural irregularities of the skin.

Am I a good candidate for the FotoFacial RF® Treatments?

Treatments are beneficial for the following face and body skin concerns:

1. Vascular based conditions such as: rosacea, flushing, redness, ruddy complexion, broken capillaries and spider veins of the face.
2. Brown, melanin based conditions such as: sun spot, age spots, hyperpigmentation, melasma, cholasma, mask of Pregnancy, multiple freckles.
3. Chronic sun damage and photoaging.

What results might I expect from the treatments?

Improvement in pink and brown discoloration, spider veins, pink and brown blemishes, sun damage, age spots, pore size, acne scarring, and wrinkles.

How long will the results last?

At the completion of the program the skin will have achieved a noticeable degree of improvement. Occasionally, some patients desire an even greater degree of improvement. These patients will sign up for additional treatments or procedures. Most patients will desire to just maintain the skin enhancements they achieved. For these patients, a single maintenance FotoFacial RF® treatment is recommended every 4 months to keep the skin looking vital, even, smooth, and youthful.
