What makes Aurora Hair Removal System different than other hair removal machines?

Aurora is based on a unique technology, called ELOS, which utilizes the synergy of electrical energy and light to remove hair more gently, more effectively than any other system. Aurora:

  • Uses less energy, which means it is safer
  • Causes fewer, milder side-effects
  • Is more comfortable before and after treatment
  • Removes more hair in fewer treatments

How does Aurora work?

Aurora is a faster, gentler way to remove unwanted hair, with long-term results. It applies precisely controlled pulses of energy (electrical and light, with cooling), reaching into the hair follicles that lie beneath the skin. The energy heats the hair, right down to the bottom of the root, destroying it without damaging surrounding tissue or skin.

What does it feel like?

Each pulse, which lasts less than one second, produces a slight tingling feeling. In particularly sensitive areas, such as the upper lip, it may feel like a quick, light pinch.

Can you treat my skin/hair type?

In general, hair removal works best for those with light skin and dark hair. Because the light is attracted to dark pigment, we cannot treat white or blond hair. It is best to schedule a consultation first to make sure you are a good candidate.

What about side effects?

The energies used by Aurora (electrical and light) are both commonly used in a range of medical and cosmetic procedures and have proven to be safe. Most people experience no side effects at all, though a few exhibit some short-term local reddening of the surrounding skin. You can return to your regular activities immediately after treatment, although it is advisable to keep the skin protected from exposure to direct sunlight for a short period of time.

How many treatments will I need?

Hair grows in cycles. Similar to other technologies, Aurora destroys hairs that are in the active growth phase, so repeat treatments will be needed to target hair that was not affected at the time of the previous treatments. The number of treatments you will nee depends on your hair and skin color and type, and the part of your face or body treated. IDinHealth will advise you about how long it will take to reach your hair removal goals. (Usually 4-6 treatments are required).

How long between treatments?

4 to 6 weeks depending on area being treated.

What should I do (or not do) before my treatment?

Avoid sun exposure and do not apply tanning products for 4-6 weeks prior to appointment. Also, you should shave the area to be treated, but DO NOT wax, bleach, tweeze or use depilatories.

What results can I expect?

Aurora has been proven to be effective for long-term hair reduction with each individual treatment. Results will vary from person to person, but most patients will achieve desirable hair reduction after 4-6 sessions. After each treatment you will see thinner and less dense re-growth. Some individuals may require follow-up treatments until they achieve their goal. We reevaluate a patient with each treatment and adjust the treatment protocol in order to achieve the best result.
