About Us

Innovative Directions in Health is the leading Anti-Aging & Preventive Medicine clinic in Minnesota. The clinic is led by its founder, Khalid Mahmud, M.D., F.A.C.P, former Chief of Medicine at North Memorial Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. The clinic specializes in Internal Anti-Aging, Facial Anti-Aging, and Body Sculpting Services.

Dr. Khalid Mahmud

Dr. Mahmud

Dr. Mahmud is fully certified by the American Board of Anti-Aging Medicine and has been a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine since 1996. During this time, he has received extensive and ongoing training by way of:

  • Attending the Academy's educational and scientific meetings
  • Participating in numerous educational courses and seminars in the fields of nutrition, exercise, hormonal therapies, supplementation, prevention of disease, and skin anti-aging
  • Subscribing to numerous periodicals and books on these subjects

Dr. Richard Sinda

Dr. SindaDr. Richard Sinda was born and raised in the Detroit area. While earning his Bachelor of Arts in Biology at Kalamazoo College in Michigan, he did two research internships at National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland; one working with breast cancer (at the National Cancer Institute) and the other with optimal vitamin C levels (at the National Institute of Diabetes and Kidney Diseases).

He went on to Osteopathic Medical School at Des Moines University and graduated in 1991. He continued his medical internship and residency in Family Medicine in Detroit (affiliated with Michigan State) finishing in 1994.

After, Dr. Sinda practiced full time Family Medicine for 8 years in Michigan and then in Minnesota while moonlighting in Urgent Care that entire time. In 2002, he switched to full time Urgent Care (working first for Now Care then Park Nicollet) while also working at Provation MD (Wolters Kluwer Health) downtown Minneapolis, developing clinical content for medical software.

Dr. Sinda became certified in Age Management Medicine (AMM) in 2011 and has adopted Dr. Mahmud's programs and protocols for Anti-Aging Medicine with a long track record of reducing symptoms and the risk of chronic diseases such as heart attack, stroke, dementia and cancer, while naturally controlling chemical and hormonal imbalances in the body.

When he is not at work, Dr. Sinda enjoys spending time with his wife Jill (a physical therapist) and 3 teenage sons, as well as playing guitar, running, traveling and reading about science and science fiction. He resides in Excelsior, MN.

Charity Zrust

RN, Certified Injector

Charity has been in the medical field for over 15 years, graduating with a Registered Nurse Associates degree in 2007. She has served in many different medical settings; hospital, clinical, home health care, skincare and cosmetic surgery, bringing many areas of practical nursing to her experience.

 

Clinically trained by Dr. Mahmud, Charity is passionate about helping patients safely and effectively enhance their quality of life. She is dedicates her time to helping patients achieve their anti-aging goals and regain balance and sense of self with bio-identical hormone replacement therapy.

   

Charity is also a highly trained Injector specializing in Botox, Dysport, Restylane, Perlane and Juvederm for cosmetic correction and enhancement. She continues to excel with the latest advancements to restore youthfulness to the skin. In addition, she is a trained technician for hair removal and photo facial skin rejuvenation.

   

When not at work, Charity enjoys shopping, reading, fishing and spending time with her husband Craig and daughter Ashlyn.


Lisa

Lisa Rhodes

Clinic Manager, Esthetician, Phlebotomist

Lisa has been with Innovative Directions in Health since 2005. She wears many hats at the clinic; managing business operations and patient accounts, Esthetics, and Phlebotomy. She provides a wide variety of non-surgical treatments, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, photo-facial skin rejuvenation and hair removal. She enjoys working with clients to help them achieve their personal skincare goals by recommending in-office treatments as well as pharmaceutical grade products for optimal results.

 

Lisa has a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of WI, Eau Claire and received extensive Esthetics training and certification from St. Paul College. She continues to attend advanced seminars for product knowledge and clinic trainings/seminars for the latest anti-aging and preventative medicine news to share with patients.

When Lisa is not at work, she enjoys spending time traveling with her husband Justin and chasing around her little ones, Braden and Alaina.
